Play Chess with a Friend

Create a public or private room, then invite a friend with a share link or room code. You can also browse the lobby to join an open room or watch a game already in progress on the 8×8 board.

Create a room

Choose a room type, then invite a friend with the link or room code.

Room type

Public rooms use a shorter code and appear in the lobby for anyone to join.

Join a room

Paste a friend's share link or enter a room code. A waiting room seats you; a game already in progress opens as a spectator.

Leaving does not close the room. The host can re-enter from Your rooms in the lobby, or close the room. If everyone disconnects, the room expires after about 20 minutes. Room codes are only for this match and do not store personal information.

A room is a link, not an account

Create a public or private chess room, send the URL, and sit down on an 8x8 board. You can also browse the lobby, re-enter a room you opened, or watch a game already in progress.

Invite with a link or a room code

Public rooms appear in the lobby with a short code. Private rooms stay off the list; only people with the link or code can join. Neither kind asks for an email or a password.

Play, leave, or watch

The host chooses White or Black before the second player sits. After the game starts you can resign, offer a draw, rematch, or leave and come back. A full room can still be watched from the lobby.

Not a rating lobby

Moves are relayed inside the room so both boards stay in sync. There is no ranking list and no saved social profile. Close the tab when you are done.
